Prerequisites: Hauptschulabschluss [passed school-leaving examination from non-selective secondary modern school] or Mittlere Reife [» equivalent GCE "O" level], spatial imaginative faculty, handicraft skills and good mathematics skills
Training subjects: The reading, application and preparation of technical documents; manual metal-cutting; machining; the cutting-off, reshaping and joining of materials; the maintenance of working and operating resources and supplies, machines and systems; the assembly, testing and adjustment of components, assemblies and subsystems; the assembly of machines and production systems; setting up work stations
Fields of work: As an after-sales service or workshop fitter in the branch establishments: maintenance as well as the restoring of machines and equipment to a state of readiness for operation in changing operating locations; tracing the causes of faults in mechanical, pneumatic and hydraulic machines; preventive service. In our production facilities: work in assembly lines and testing shops
Opportunities for promotion: Foreman of special work sectors; through in-house further and supplementary training to training officer or operations scheduler; via qualification as a master craftsman to workshop manager
