Performance behind the scenes

Event organisers hire working platforms and trucks from one supplier

The mateco AG, Stuttgart, a leading hirer of modern access technology, has a significant share in the implementation. Safe application of the appliances has top priority for the company founded in 1973. They have 34 branches throughout Europe and this ensures the proximity to customers. 80 of about 450 employees of the service provider are working in foreign companies. Apart from working platforms of any type, the service provider hires out trucks from Jungheinrich.

Starting whistle is blown for the Champions League: The ball is rolling again at the Bremen Weser Stadium. While the excitement grows and fans of both football teams wave their flags and sing their battle songs, the teams who prepared the stadium for the game behind the scenes lean back relaxed. They transformed the stadium in a few days into the state prescribed by the European Football Association UEFA in their regulations for the champion class of football.

"Sports-enthusiastic" Rental trucks

In sport, the crux of the matter for Rental trucks is speed, let’s say before Champions League games when time pressure always rules. As the respective stadium has to be transformed by the time specified by UEFA and the material for doing this only arrives shortly before, the Rental trucks have to be available dead on time.
"The day before the game, UEFA representatives come to check all prescribed positions. Among them are the special perimeter board advertising with logos of the companies who co-finance the Champions League and the precise positioning of the trainer benches and television cameras." Of course, logos adorning the stadium during the national championship season have to be removed or covered. Even more labour-intensive work has to be done before the Champions League final when the appliances have to operate for up to two and a half weeks because, as an example, UEFA has flags put up also outside the stadium.

Renting instead of buying

Mateco knows its market and its working conditions due to years of experience. "Event organisers want to hire instead of buying, because the requirements and conditions change from one production to the next. The type of drive for working platforms and trucks is often oriented on whether the event takes place inside or outside. The maximum permissible floor loading for the respective area will also have to be taken into account. "Hiring also makes sense because the number of required trucks varies and there is no capital tie-up. Not counting this, an event organiser who invested in trucks would have to transport them at his own expense over greater distances to the application site. Rental trucks on the other hand are available in the proximity of the events."
