Chancellor’s tour: Angela Merkel visits Jungheinrich at Hannover Messe/CeMAT

Chancellor experiences fully-automated warehouse solutions first-hand
Intralogistics is a key sector for Industry 4.0
Jungheinrich is the largest exhibitor at Hannover Messe/CeMAT 2018

Hanover: German Chancellor Angela Merkel visited the stand of the Hamburg-based intralogistics expert Jungheinrich today as part of the traditional Chancellor’s tour which marks the start of Hannover Messe/CeMAT. She was accompanied by Mexican President Enrique Peña Nieto and other members of the German federal cabinet. CEO Hans-Georg Frey and Board member for Marketing and Sales Dr Lars Brzoska informed the Chancellor about the latest trends in the intralogistics sector. With the push of a button, Chancellor Merkel set off a driverless stacker truck that then transported a 1.5-tonne pallet load to its destination fully automatically on her command. “The automation of transportation tasks is one of the technologies that will be key to the success of the fourth industrial revolution. Automations such as automated guided vehicles will play a central role in how the German economy faces future challenges, and not only due to the skills shortage. Jungheinrich is a leader in this field. We were delighted to be able to show Chancellor Merkel how sophisticated, automated warehouse solutions can transport goods quickly and safely,” said Jungheinrich CEO, Hans-Georg Frey. Jungheinrich is the largest exhibitor at Hannover Messe/CeMAT this year. The Hamburg-based family business, which celebrates its 65th anniversary in 2018, is presenting its Intralogistics 4.0 products and solutions to the international attendees under the slogan “Your Connection to Success”. With more than 5,500 m2 of exhibition space under the EXPO canopy in Pavilions 33 and 34, Jungheinrich is displaying its entire portfolio of planning, project management and realisation products for semi- to fully-automated warehouses. Highlights from the portfolio include the EKX 516a automated high-rack stacker and the Jungheinrich lithium-ion experience.
