Founded in 1960, Jungheinrich Switzerland is today established throughout the country – time for a look back at 65 years of development, growth and change.
65 years ago today, on 29 July 1960, our Swiss site – then still known as ‘Ameise GmbH’ – was entered in the commercial register. This entry marked the beginning of a development that is still characterised by commitment, innovation, and customer centricity today.
Just two years after the company was founded, in 1962, an additional sales base was opened in Vevey, near Lausanne and the French border, to be able to serve customers in French-speaking Switzerland directly. The move to Oberentfelden followed in 1968 – a clear sign of the growing business and the increasing need for space. In 1996, the new building in Hirschthal became a modern location that set new standards for efficiency and organisation. The conversion to a stock-listed company in 2004 and the construction of its own forklift hall in 2009 emphasise the continuous further development.
Today, Jungheinrich Switzerland has 357 employees and is present with several sites throughout the country, including Châtel-St-Denis and Arbedo-Castione. The history of the site is an example of the transformation from a regional supplier to an established part of the international Jungheinrich Group – and of 65 years of continuous progress, technical expertise, and customer-focused partnership.
