• 13,000 storage slots in 14-aisle, narrow-aisle warehouse • Seven ETX 515a high-bay stackers equipped with telescopic forks from MIAS • New contour control system removes the need for pallet conveyor systems
For its client ESM Ertl Systemlogistik Minden GmbH & Co. KG, Jungheinrich has put together an integrated intralogistics package taken from its comprehensive range of automatic logistics systems as well as automated and manual materials handling equipment and software. Working in close cooperation with the customer, Jungheinrich has developed and successfully implemented new solution approaches. The rack for the automated high-bay forklifts is 13.5 meters high, with 13,000 pallet slots. Seven type ETXa automated system stackers with telescopic forks from the Jungheinrich subsidiary the MIAS Group are at the heart of the system solution. The pallets are delivered from the goods receiving area via Jungheinrich reach trucks to transfer stations equipped with contour checking technology. The decisive advantage of the Jungheinrich solution is its new contour control system, which makes it possible to manually feed pallets into an automated warehouse without the need for space-consuming conveyor technology. The sensors at the transfer points to the automatic storage system ensures the smooth and safe handling of pallets of all sizes. Jungheinrich is implementing its innovative contour monitoring solution for the first time ever at the ESM Ertl Systemlogistik Minden company. Dispensing with conveyor technology results in considerable savings of space, time and money.
As Hartmut Gentes, Head of Regional Logistics System Sales at Jungheinrich, explains: “The new contour control system offers considerable advantages, including eliminating the need for separate pallet conveyor technology, thus freeing up additional storage space. The sensor system prevents manual vehicles and automated high-bay stackers from blocking each other, providing for the maximum efficiency even under full loads. The system’s power bus allows the equipment to be operated for an unlimited period of time, with turnover of 3,000 pallets every day, 24/7.”
