Why Jungheinrich is my employer of choice: Annika talks about her HR internship

Annika completed her internship in the HR department at our Jungheinrich plant in Norderstedt and would do it again and again. Why? Read for yourself!

Portrait of intern Annika

After successfully completing my bachelor's degree in business psychology in October 2023, I had the opportunity to complete my internship in HR personnel support at Jungheinrich's Norderstedt site.

However, my first contact with the company was during my studies, when I specialised in personnel psychology. Together with a colleague, I designed and organised a training day for dual students in Wandsbek. Later, this colleague also supervised me during my bachelor's thesis, which marked the beginning of a long and enriching relationship with Jungheinrich.

I experienced numerous highlights during my internship. Particularly noteworthy was taking on projects independently, which is not normally part of an internship. The trust placed in me by both the entire team and the company was an outstanding experience for me. I also really appreciated the collaboration and dialogue with my team. The factory tours in Norderstedt and Lüneburg and a day at the head office were further highlights. These events not only offered exciting insights into the various Jungheinrich sites, but also encouraged contact with colleagues beyond the workplace.

My expectations of the internship were exceeded by far. I wanted to gain initial experience in the entire HR area, from recruiting to administration. In fact, I learnt an incredible amount, whether it was about working in a team, processing, the legal basis or working with different stakeholders. The working environment at Jungheinrich was so inspiring that I definitely want to work for the company in the future. The varied tasks, the supportive environment and the recognition of commitment and potential have characterised my time here. My days were always varied and exciting. The induction programme was on a personal level and I was quickly allowed to take on independent tasks. Regular feedback meetings helped me to develop and improve my skills. My tasks included various administrative tasks, drafting contract letters, processing applications, publishing job adverts and supporting various HR projects. I really enjoyed these tasks and they helped me to expand my knowledge and skills.

I would definitely recommend the internship at Jungheinrich. Both the supervision of the interns and the work in a large corporation offer valuable experience and insights that are often not possible in smaller companies. The internship also gave me the opportunity to get to know other interns and make new contacts. Joint events and activities promoted dialogue and networking beyond the internship. Overall, I worked in a team of around 17 colleagues in Norderstedt and was able to gain many enriching experiences.
