Jungheinrich mobile robots increase efficiency and process reliability at Orafol Europe

Hamburg – Orafol Europe GmbH, a leading manufacturer of graphic products, reflective materials and industrial adhesives, has commissioned Jungheinrich to automate internal transport processes at its Oranienburg site. Starting in December 2025, two ERC 217a mobile robots will take over the internal transport of finished goods pallets in 24/7 operation.
The investment decision was driven by the company’s ambition to position the Oranienburg site as a frontrunner in the automation of standardized tasks and by the increasing shortage of skilled labour in the region. “We want to relieve our shipping staff of routine tasks so they can focus on their core responsibilities,” explains Marco Weiß, Head of Shipping at Orafol.
“With our flexible mobile robot solution, we enable Orafol to significantly improve efficiency and process reliability in its material handling operations – with a payback period of less than two years,” says Julia Fiddicke, Project Manager at Jungheinrich. “At the same time, the 24/7 operation ensures a continuous supply to the pallet wrapper.”
The solution developed by Jungheinrich comprises two ERC 217a mobile robots with an automatic charging station. Covering a travel path of approximately 90 metres, the vehicles connect 39 floor stations and two conveyor stations. They transport both standard Euro pallets and oversized pallets efficiently and reliably. The system operates fully autonomously as a stand-alone solution and can be easily expanded if needed.
