Hamburg – Jungheinrich has been nominated as a finalist for the prestigious German Sustainability Award 2027 in the Corporations category. The independent expert jury thereby recognises the material handling provider’s commitment to the sustainable transformation of business and society. Jungheinrich was already named a winner of the German Sustainability Award last year.

With its products and solutions, Jungheinrich helps companies worldwide to make their warehouses efficient, circular-ready and safe. In environmental sustainability, the company places particular emphasis on reducing greenhouse gas emissions across the entire value chain and on the circular economy. This includes the industrial refurbishment of forklift trucks. Life cycle assessments show that using these JUNGSTARS saves around 80 per cent of CO₂e emissions compared with new production.

“Being a finalist for the German Sustainability Award is a special recognition of our holistic approach to sustainability,” says Gabriele Maurer, Vice President Corporate Sustainability, EHS & Resilience at Jungheinrich. “We see sustainability as an essential part of our corporate responsibility and as a driver of innovation and long-term business success.”

The expert jury particularly highlights the consistent implementation of the sustainability strategy. The combination of electric drive technology with life cycle offerings such as rental, service and the industrial refurbishment of used trucks is a decisive factor in the selection of finalists.

Jungheinrich follows an emissions reduction pathway for Scopes 1 to 3 validated by the Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi) and aims to achieve net-zero greenhouse gas emissions by 2050. The focus is particularly on emissions along the value chain, including those from purchased materials, transport and the use of products.

The finalists for the German Sustainability Award were selected in the three size categories SMEs, Large Companies and Corporations by independent expert juries from business, academia and civil society. The assessment focuses in particular on sustainability impact, innovative strength and exemplary leadership. The winners will receive their awards on 3 December 2026 in Düsseldorf. The German Sustainability Award is one of Europe’s most prestigious awards for sustainable business practices.
