Jungheinrich plant in Qingpu celebrates its 20th anniversary

Jungheinrich celebrates 20 years of the Qingpu plant and emphasises the strategic importance of the location for its business in China.

Hamburg/Shanghai – The Jungheinrich plant in Shanghai is celebrating its twentieth anniversary. In 2006, the company began series production of industrial trucks for the Chinese market. Over the past 20 years, the Qingpu Factory has transformed from a single assembly plant into a comprehensive research, development and manufacturing centre for advanced material-handling equipment. Energy-efficient low-lift and high-lift trucks, electric counterbalance trucks and reach trucks are manufactured in Qingpu. The production is closely linked to development activities, enabling technical solutions to be transferred directly into production. The plant supplies customers in the Asia-Pacific region and strengthens Jungheinrich's position in this region.

Representatives of the Group and China management, as well as delegations from politics, administration and industry in the Shanghai area, used the anniversary to celebrate the development of the location with an event and discuss prospects for further cooperation. Maik Manthey, Chief Technology Officer at Jungheinrich, says: “For two decades now, our production facility in Qingpu has stood for technical excellence and the highest quality. This success is primarily due to the outstanding commitment of our team on site. Jungheinrich has deep roots in China – and the Qingpu location has made a significant contribution to expanding and sustainably shaping our regional strength in the APAC region.”

With a view to its 2030+ strategy, Jungheinrich reaffirms its long-term commitment to quality, innovation and sustainable growth. The Qingpu plant remains a key contributor to the company's global orientation and the further development of the local manufacturing landscape.
